A one day excursion for IRG49 delegates at a 10% discount to the Pilanesberg Game Reserve is highly recommended (leaving from the conference venue, the Hilton, at approximately 06h00 and returning at 17h30). The day includes transport from Sandton to Pilanesberg and back, a morning open vehicle safari drive, a light lunch at the reserve, and an afternoon open safari drive.
For more information on the one day tour, and for booking your spot for the 1 day post conference tour click here. Please ensure that you clearly state IRG49 when you book your space as this will ensure a 10% discount of the quoted fee. Amongst Southern Africa's most fascinating game reserves, the Pilanesberg National Park is possibly the most accessible. Situated in the ecologically rich transition zone between the Kalahari and the Lowveld, this vast area promises thrilling big game viewing in a malaria free environment.
For those delegates planning to visit South Africa for a longer period, whether its pre or post conference, and looking for travel and tour options, click here for a range of options of varying destinations, duration, and at dates that suit your travel plans. Note that some of the tours may require additional traveling to other cities in South Africa, e.g. Cape Town.
To avoid duplication, note that some of the tours on offer may include visits to the same places as planned for the companions programme as well as for the Wednesday afternoon IRG49 excursion, which includes a visit to Maropeng – The Cradle of Humankind, followed by visit to The Lion and Safari Park for short game view drive, animal interaction and a South African braai (barbeque) dinner.
